2020 State Finals Blocks & Locations Announced

For the first time in over a decade, the IHAAZ State Finals will be split into two weekends to allow for a better experience for all!

With over 30 teams slotted to compete in the 2020 IHAAZ State Finals tournament this May, the IHAAZ board looked closely at how to provide the best possible event for the players and spectators.

Over the past couple seasons State Finals games were running well into the post midnight hours on Friday and Saturday evenings, while others were starting as early as 6AM on Saturday and Sunday  with a long day ahead for those teams. Games became shorter to accommodate the number of teams, and staple events of the tournament such as the All- Star games and on rink awards ceremonies had to be cut just to get in all the games needed. The quantity of players allowed to compete in our skills challenge also had to be capped, leaving some players out of the action.

The solution to how to get back to providing the awesome event we strive for became simple: split the event into multiple weekends to allow the scheduling time needed to put on the event our players deserved! With the event now having 4 total days to use instead of 2.5, our skills competitions, all star games, and team/player recognition ceremonies now have room to breathe.

With rink time secured and team counts verified, the dates and locations are now locked in and plans for travel can be made by all!

May 9th and 10th will host the 8U, 10U, and 12U divisions and will be held at Barney's in Queen Creek.

May 16th and 17th will host the 14U and Midget divisions and will be held at the Peoria Sportsplex in Peoria.

More information will be posted as the seasons roster lock approaches and teams secure their ability to compete at the 2020 State Finals event!
